The opportunity

Job Description

Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pediatric PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) at Murfreesboro Recovery. In this role, you will provide specialized nursing care to pediatric patients in the immediate post-operative period, applying the nursing process to plan and implement individualized care while supporting patients and families through the recovery process.

Clinical Setting

You will work within Murfreesboro Recovery, part of Vanderbilt Health's comprehensive academic health system serving the Mid-South region. The Pediatric PACU is a specialized unit focused on the care of children immediately following surgical procedures and anesthesia.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in establishing the plan of care, coordinate and implement care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum
  • Analyze comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnoses
  • Continually utilize the nursing process to evaluate patients' progress toward goals and apply appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes
  • Employ strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment
  • Provide patient and family education and support continuum of care planning
  • Effectively communicate pertinent patient and family information to the healthcare team
  • Establish patient goals collaboratively and evaluate progress to ensure effective outcomes
  • Engage in learning activities according to Board of Nursing standards to further professional growth

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience
  • Graduate of an approved nursing program
