The opportunity

Job Description

IU Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for a part-time float position supporting ambulatory care across multiple clinic locations. This role offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with no weekends, holidays, or on-call duties required.

As a float nurse, you will have no fixed work location and will be assigned to various IUHMG Metro Ambulatory locations across both Primary Care and Specialty clinics based on organizational needs. Assignments may be communicated weeks in advance or as late as the morning of the shift, requiring flexibility and adaptability across diverse clinic settings. The position is potentially hybrid depending on clinic needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assure smooth patient flow
  • Assist with examination procedures
  • Collect patient information
  • Perform general lab work
  • Provide patient education
  • Offer clerical support
  • Complete triage duties

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of RN experience
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN)
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • Ability to assess patients without face-to-face interaction
  • Understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Triage experience
  • 2-3 years of clinical experience

Additional Requirements

  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
