The Outpatient Oncology Clinical Nurse II delivers direct patient care to adult oncology outpatient patients at UCSF Medical Center. This is an experienced nursing role requiring in-depth knowledge of cancer disease processes, major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. You will utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care while adhering to Oncology Nursing Society standards and National Patient Safety Goals.

Clinical Setting

This position is based in the outpatient oncology setting and requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care to assigned adult oncology outpatient populations
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process
  • Provide safe, therapeutic care with in-depth knowledge of cancer treatment modalities and symptom management
  • Function as a member of interdisciplinary and nursing teams
  • Carry out established nursing procedures and related duties as required
  • Provide nursing care for patients with complex needs, offering assistance, guidance, and supervision as needed
  • Assist with management of patient care administered by other nursing team members
  • Serve as a clinical resource for the unit
  • Demonstrate investment in the forward movement of the unit and organization

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN Medical Oncology nursing experience or recent Surgical Oncology nursing experience
  • Minimum 3 years of total recent RN experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with Interventional Pulmonary patients and their associated procedures within the last 2 years
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to successful performance of assigned duties

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years or more of recent Surgical Oncology experience
