The opportunity

Job Description

IU Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for a float position supporting ambulatory care across multiple clinic locations. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic outpatient environment with no fixed work location, providing nursing support across Primary Care and Specialty clinics within the IUHMG Metro system.

As a float nurse, you will be assigned to different clinic locations based on organizational needs. Assignments may be communicated weeks in advance or as late as the morning of the shift, requiring flexibility and adaptability across diverse clinic settings.

Responsibilities

  • Assure smooth patient flow
  • Assist with examination procedures
  • Collect patient information
  • Perform general lab work
  • Provide patient education
  • Offer clerical support
  • Complete triage duties
  • Assess patients without face-to-face interaction as needed

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
  • No weekends
  • No holidays
  • No on-call duties
  • Potentially hybrid depending on clinic needs

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of RN experience
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN)
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • Awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Triage experience
  • 2-3 years of clinical experience
  • Advanced Life Support certifications may be required based on unit or department specialty
