The opportunity

Job Description

Mercyhealth is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room to provide compassionate nursing care in a clinical setting while supporting the organization's nursing mission and values. This position involves variable shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on-call hours, with the possibility of floating to different units based on staffing needs and clinical competency.

Schedule

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members in patient care
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies, procedures, standards of care, and state practice act
  • Perform patient assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care
  • Develop, initiate, and execute individualized patient plans of care as prescribed by physician and clinic policy, including patient and family instruction
  • Document care according to standards of care
  • Participate in department or unit performance improvement activities and shared governance
  • Utilize clinical expertise to guide other units and departments in support of the patient's longitudinal plan of care
  • Apply critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience, escalating concerns appropriately through the chain of command
  • Participate in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions, and peer review process
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required upon hire
  • Active RN license in state of practice
  • CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
  • May require specific years of applicable experience per department guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Certifications

  • ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRP certifications may be required per unit requirements
  • Color blind test may be required per department guidelines

Compensation

  • Pay range: $34.45 - $60.87 per hour
