AdventHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room on a full-time, weekend-only day shift basis. This position is located in Tampa, Florida and serves patients undergoing surgical procedures. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary surgical team to provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient conditions and needs through comprehensive evaluations to develop individualized care plans
- Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, ensuring comprehensive and continuous care
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely according to prescribed protocols
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress continuously, adjusting care plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes
- Document patient care activities meticulously to maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
- Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care to promote understanding and compliance
- Advocate for patient safety by identifying potential risks and implementing preventive measures
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and effective patient care
- Maintain sterile environment and adhere to safety protocols to prevent infection and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
- Perform therapeutic and diagnostic interventions such as IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections
- Provide emotional and physical support to patients and their families during recovery
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care quality, safety, and efficiency
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support CPR certification
- Associate's degree in Nursing
- One or more years of medical-surgical nursing experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating compassion and respect to patients and families undergoing stressful procedures and treatments
- Ability to work independently and self-motivated, taking direction from physicians and management
- Safe knowledge of equipment, procedures, supplies, computers, IV pumps, NOVA Glucose monitor, I-STAT, and immediate use sterilization policy and procedures
- Proficiency in English
- Effective communication abilities
- EMR charting competency
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care that addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient population served within the operating room

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- One or more years of surgery experience
- Computer literacy
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems experience
- Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to operating room specialty
- Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) certification
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
