The opportunity

Job Description

North Memorial Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room. As an OR RN, you will provide holistic care to patients and families, executing the full scope of nursing practice including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will develop and revise patient care plans, coordinate care among disciplines, and delegate activities to other care providers as appropriate. You will participate in shared accountability and decision-making for nursing practices, and through active participation, define, implement, and improve practice standards and the environment of care.

Clinical Setting

North Memorial Health operates two hospital locations in Robbinsdale and Maple Grove, along with a network of 23 clinics across five counties. The Robbinsdale Hospital is a 385-bed Level 1 Trauma center (recognized for 25 years) and Level II pediatric trauma center established in 1954. The Maple Grove Hospital is a 134-bed facility established in 2009, recognized as a top hospital in the state for Women and Children Care with a Level III NICU and the largest Family Birth Center in the state. Both hospitals have been named to the 2022 Fortune/Merative 100 Top Hospitals list and the 2023 Women's Choice Award Best Hospitals list.

Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic, patient-centered care to customers and families
  • Execute independent, collaborative, and delegated nursing functions specific to the operating room
  • Perform comprehensive assessment and develop individualized care plans
  • Coordinate care among interdisciplinary team members
  • Delegate activities to other care providers as appropriate
  • Participate in shared accountability and decision-making for nursing practices
  • Implement and improve practice standards and the environment of care
  • Promote remarkable customer care through active participation and leadership

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of previous RN experience
  • Current licensure as RN in the State of Minnesota
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (pre-employment requirement)
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Additional certification appropriate for nursing practice (such as CEN or CCRN)
  • Demonstrated leadership, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of professional nursing principles and practice
  • Knowledge of nursing ethics

Additional Certifications

Depending on the specific unit assignment, the following certifications may be required:

  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • Current Wisconsin RN license
  • EMT (Emergency Medical Technician)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization)

Schedule

  • 64 hours per two-week pay period
  • 8-hour day/evening shifts
  • Weekends by department rotation
  • Off-premise call requirement
  • On-site position
  • Non-exempt (FLSA status)

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: RN A/B/M ($44.69 - $74.32), based on experience
  • Compensation may include shift differential pay depending on the position and shift worked
