Registered Nurse, Operating Room, Internal Traveler Program, Baptist Dowtown

Baptist Downtown is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Internal Traveler Program in the Main Operating Room. This is a short-term contracted position requiring 36-40 hours per week for 12-13 weeks as a full-time role. You will work as a circulator in a fast-paced surgical environment, collaborating with skilled physicians and operating teams.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Main Operating Room at Baptist Downtown, a locally governed, faith-based, not-for-profit health system serving Northeast Florida. Baptist Health operates six hospitals and 200+ locations, with centers of excellence including Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, Baptist Heart Hospital, Baptist Neurological Institute, and Wolfson Children's Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients requiring treatment of any medical, surgical, or other condition
• Work as a circulator, remaining with one patient at a time for the duration of their procedure
• Meet patients in the OR and remain with them until transfer to PACU care
• Serve as the patient's primary advocate during the intra-operative period
• Verify patient information and ensure appropriate positioning
• Manage the operating room and initiate counts
• Educate patients and families regarding their disease process and plan of care
• Interact with physicians and other hospital departments
• Coordinate care provided by ancillary services
• Document patient care during the intra-operative period
• Participate in staff meetings and other unit activities
• Respond to on-call duties as required

Required Qualifications

• 2-3 years of Operating Room Circulating Nursing experience
• Active Licensed Registered Nurse credential
• Associate of Science in Nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
