Registered Nurse- Operating Room-FT

Grady Health System is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for the Operating Room. In this role, you will provide age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive perioperative care in a fast-paced surgical environment. You will work as part of the surgical team to maintain a safe environment, educate patients and families, ensure continuity of care, and utilize the nursing process to provide comprehensive patient care including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the operating room setting
• Maintain safe knowledge and proper use of equipment, procedures, supplies, computers, IV pumps, NOVA Glucose monitors, I-STAT devices, and immediate use sterilization policies
• Perform EMR charting and maintain accurate patient records
• Communicate effectively with the surgical team, patients, and families
• Advocate for patients and coordinate care across settings and among caregivers
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with compassion and respect for patients and families undergoing stressful procedures
• Work independently and take direction from physicians and management
• Contribute to performance improvement, problem-solving, and conflict resolution
• Function as a collaborative team player

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Basic Life Support CPR certification (BLS)
• 2+ years of circulating nurse experience
• Proficiency in English
• Ability to communicate effectively
• EMR charting experience
• Knowledge and skills to provide care addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of patients
• Organizational skills
• Verbal and interpersonal communication abilities
• Customer relations skills
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions
• Ability to follow verbal instructions
• Manual keyboarding skills
• Computer literacy with visual proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
• Computer literacy
• Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems experience
• Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to operating room specialty
• Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) certification
• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support CPR certification is required
• Registered Nurse (RN) license is required
• Additional licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific unit or state in which this position is located
