REGISTERED NURSE - OB/GYN

North Oaks Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the OB/GYN department. In this full-time position, you will provide direct patient care in obstetrics and gynecology, working night shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized patient care using the nursing process and NOMC standards of care.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for each patient on an individual basis
• Administer medications as ordered by physicians and document patient responses
• Monitor patients receiving IV conscious sedation according to policy
• Administer blood, blood components, hyperalimentation, and chemotherapy according to hospital policy
• Assist with quality assurance audits
• Maintain accurate documentation using vital sign records, nurses' notes, and other appropriate forms
• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including dress code and attendance requirements
• Report incidents, injuries, medication errors, and unsafe conditions
• Account for narcotics and maintain a clean patient environment
• Demonstrate knowledge of hospital safety codes and participate in drills and emergency responses
• Monitor equipment function and assist with operational duties as needed
• Promote satisfactory communication and relationships with the healthcare team, patients, and families
• Attend committee meetings, in-service programs, and professional development activities as designated
• Maintain current certification in Basic Life Support and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support as required
• Maintain knowledge of computerized systems within the healthcare system
• Follow North Oaks Health System's Compliance Program and all Federal and State regulatory guidelines
• Adhere to the Nurse Practice Act and Rules and Regulations of the Louisiana State Board of Nursing

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current Louisiana RN license
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to lift and transport patients
• Motor coordination and manual dexterity

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Night shifts with rotating weekends and holidays
• Non-exempt status
