The opportunity

Job Description

Join the Emergency Department at NorthPark as a Registered Nurse in a part-time role working nights (7 PM - 7 AM). In this position, you will provide routine and complex emergency care to patients, demonstrating clinical competence and the ability to manage contingencies while working independently. You will assess patients, develop and implement care plans, administer medications and treatments, monitor for effectiveness and side effects, and provide patient and family education. You will also make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed to manage the clinical situation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
  • Administer medications and treatments according to protocol; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
  • Assess patient learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers
  • Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers to manage the clinical situation
  • Meet expectations of OneCHRISTUS Competencies applicable to your level of practice

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license in the state of employment or compact state
  • Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross) at time of hire
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current PALS certification
  • Current TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum) certification

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing is preferred
  • One year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred

Onboarding and Competency Requirements

  • All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire
  • New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member
  • Initial on-boarding requirements are validated through successful completion of organizational entry competency validation and Emergency Department-specific competency validation
  • All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation
  • Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is required

Certification Grace Periods

If you are an Experienced Associate (at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years), grace periods to obtain required certifications are:

  • ACLS: within 30 days of hire
  • PALS: within 30 days of hire
  • TNCC: within 60 days of hire

If you are a New Graduate or Experienced Associate New to the Specialty (less than one year of full-time acute care clinical experience in the same service line within the past three years), grace periods are:

  • ACLS: within 90 days of hire
  • PALS: within 90 days of hire
  • TNCC: within 18 months of hire
