Registered Nurse New Graduate Operating Room

This position is a Registered Nurse New Graduate role in the Operating Room at Intermountain Surgical Center in Murray, Utah. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed RN while completing the Intermountain Nurse Residency program and preparing to pass the State Boards examination to obtain your RN license.

This is a part-time position offering 32 hours per week with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule of 4-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 10:45 AM.

Responsibilities

You will participate in patient care delivery under direct line-of-sight supervision of an RN, including:

• Collecting patient data such as vital signs under RN supervision and reporting significant changes in patient condition
• Completing accurate documentation under RN supervision
• Observing and discussing the prioritization of patient needs and the development of individualized care plans
• Observing the implementation of patient care plans while considering patients' physical, emotional, social, and developmental needs
• Reporting patient responses to treatments and collaborating with the RN regarding necessary modifications to nursing interventions
• Participating in patient and family education under RN supervision as appropriate
• Demonstrating responsibility and accountability for patient care delivery within your defined role
• Recognizing and demonstrating legal and ethical implications of care delivery, complying with regulatory standards, maintaining accurate documentation, and preserving confidentiality
• Achieving RN licensure in a timely manner and successfully completing the Nursing Residency program

You may participate in medication administration under the direction and supervision of a licensed RN.

Program Duration and Requirements

This position is available for up to 12 weeks while you are enrolled in and actively working through the Intermountain Nurse Residency program. You must be enrolled and have started coursework in the Nurse Residency program before providing any direct patient care. After the 12-week period, or if you do not pass the State Board exam on your second attempt, you will no longer be able to remain in the Nurse Graduate position. You may then apply for other open positions you qualify for, including positions requiring certifications you currently hold such as CNA. Failure to pass boards or secure another position will result in termination.

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing (RN) education program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers
• Enrollment in and completion of coursework in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program before providing direct patient care

Physical Requirements

• Ability to see and read information, labels, and patient needs; operate monitors; and identify equipment and supplies
• Frequent verbal communication with patients, families, care providers, and the ability to hear and understand spoken information, alarms, and needs quickly and accurately, particularly during emergencies
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation and medication preparation
• Ability to lift and use full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights, including heavy items
• Ability to walk and assist with transporting and ambulating patients; obtain and distribute supplies and equipment; push and pull gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items; and navigate crowded, busy rooms with equipment and power cords
• May be required to stand in a stationary position for extended periods

Compensation and Benefits

Entry pay for unlicensed RN graduates is $32.27 per hour. Once licensed, entry pay is $35.22 per hour. This position is benefits eligible and includes a comprehensive benefits package covering wellness programs for physical, mental, emotional, financial, social, and engagement well-being.
