Registered Nurse New Graduate Labor and Delivery

This position is a Registered Nurse New Graduate role in the Labor and Delivery department at Cassia Regional Hospital in Burley, Idaho. As a Nursing Graduate, you will work under the direct line-of-sight supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse while participating in patient care delivery and orienting to the RN assignment. This is a full-time position with variable shifts working 36 hours per week.

New graduate RNs must be enrolled and have started coursework in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program before providing any direct patient care, including supervised care.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient data such as vital signs under direct RN supervision and report significant changes in patient condition
• Complete accurate documentation under direct RN supervision
• Observe and discuss with the RN the prioritization of patient needs and the development and modification of the interdisciplinary plan of care
• Observe the implementation of patient care plans, considering specialized needs including physical, emotional, and social needs, age, and ethnic origin
• Report patient responses to treatments and collaborate with the RN regarding necessary modifications to nursing interventions
• Participate in patient and family education under RN supervision as determined by assessments, patient diagnosis, learning readiness, and patient or family requests
• Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for patient care delivery within your defined role, routinely observing and discussing all aspects of care with the RN
• Recognize and demonstrate legal and ethical implications of care delivery by practicing as a Nursing Resident under RN supervision, complying with regulatory standards, maintaining accurate documentation, and preserving confidentiality
• Achieve RN licensure in a timely manner per Intermountain Health standards and complete orientation and training requirements, including successful progression through the Nursing Residency program
• May participate in medication administration under the direction and supervision of a licensed RN

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing (RN) education program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers
• Enrollment and active participation in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program before providing direct patient care

Physical Requirements

• Ability to see and read information, labels, and assess patient needs; operate monitors; and identify equipment and supplies
• Frequent verbal communication with patient care providers, patients, and visitors; ability to hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergencies
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation and medication preparation
• Ability to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights, including heavy items
• Ability to walk and assist with transporting and ambulating patients; obtain and distribute supplies and equipment; push and pull gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items; and navigate crowded and busy rooms
• May be required to stand in a stationary position for extended periods

Schedule and Compensation

• Full-time position: 36 hours per week with variable shifts
• New Grad RN with Temporary License: $31.95 per hour entry pay
• Registered Nurse with License: $34.53 per hour entry pay
• Hourly range: $32.27 - $32.27
