Registered Nurse New Graduate Inpatient Rehabilitation

This position is part of the Intermountain Nurse Residency program and is designed for newly graduated registered nurses preparing to obtain their RN license. You will work in the Inpatient Rehabilitation department at McKay-Dee Hospital under the direct line-of-sight supervision of a licensed RN, participating in patient care delivery while completing your nursing education and preparing for the State Board examination.

This is a temporary position lasting up to 12 weeks while you are enrolled in and actively progressing through the Intermountain Nurse Residency program. Upon successful completion and passage of the State Board exam, you will transition to a licensed RN position. If you do not pass the State Board exam on your second attempt or are not hired into another qualifying position after the 12-week period, employment will be terminated.

You must be enrolled and have started coursework in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program before providing any direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient data such as vital signs under direct RN supervision and report significant changes in patient condition
• Complete accurate documentation under direct RN supervision
• Observe and discuss with the RN the prioritization of patient needs and the development and modification of the interdisciplinary plan of care
• Observe the implementation of patient care plans, considering specialized needs including physical, emotional, and social factors, age, and ethnic origin
• Report patient responses to treatments and collaborate with the RN regarding necessary modifications to nursing interventions
• Participate in patient and family education under RN supervision as determined by assessments, patient diagnosis, learning readiness, and patient or family requests
• Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for patient care delivery within your defined role, routinely observing and discussing all aspects of care with the RN
• Practice legally and ethically under RN supervision, comply with regulatory standards, maintain accurate documentation, and preserve patient confidentiality
• Achieve RN licensure in a timely manner per Intermountain Health standards and complete all orientation, training, and Nursing Residency program requirements

Inpatient Rehabilitation at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing (RN) education program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers
• Current enrollment and active participation in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program before beginning direct patient care

Schedule and Shift

• Part-time option: 24 hours per week, Day Shift
• Full-time option: 36 hours per week, Night Shift
• Alternating weekends
• Rotated holidays among three groups

Compensation and Benefits

• Entry pay for unlicensed nursing graduates: $32.27 per hour
• Entry pay for licensed RNs: $35.22 per hour

Physical Requirements

• Ability to see and read information, labels, and patient needs; operate monitors; and identify equipment and supplies
• Frequent verbal communication with patients, families, and care providers; ability to hear and understand spoken information, alarms, and needs quickly and accurately, particularly during emergencies
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex equipment with precision, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation and medication preparation
• Ability to lift and use full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights, including heavy items
• Ability to walk and assist with transporting and ambulating patients; push and pull gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items; navigate crowded rooms with equipment and power cords
• May be required to stand in a stationary position for extended periods
