The opportunity

Job Description

Baptist Health System offers a year-long New Graduate RN Nurse Residency program designed to support newly licensed registered nurses within their first six months of professional practice. This structured program provides comprehensive orientation, clinical training, and mentorship to help you develop the skills and competencies needed for exceptional bedside care.

Program Overview

You will be assigned a dedicated nurse preceptor who will support you throughout your residency. The program combines online and classroom learning with hands-on clinical experience, peer cohort bonding, networking opportunities, and social activities throughout the year. You will participate in frequent touchpoints with program staff, achievement celebrations, and a structured buddy and preceptor assignment program.

Areas of Practice

You may be placed in one of the following clinical areas:

  • Adult Critical Care
  • ICU Stepdown
  • Emergency Department
  • Labor and Delivery
  • Perioperative
  • Medical Surgical/Telemetry
  • Neonatal ICU

During your residency, you will develop competency in:

  • Integration of evidence-based clinical nursing practice

  • Technical proficiency required for your chosen clinical area

Required Qualifications

  • Texas RN license, Compact State RN license, or temporary Texas RN license
  • New graduate RN or RN with less than 6 months of nursing experience
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification upon hire or obtained within 30 days of employment
  • Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or commitment to pursue your BSN
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Additional Requirements

  • Tenet complies with federal, state, and local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce. If you are offered this position and must be vaccinated under any applicable law, you will be required to show proof of full vaccination or obtain approval of a religious or medical exemption prior to your start date. If you receive an exemption from the vaccination requirement, you will be required to submit to regular testing in accordance with the law.
