Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring newly graduated Registered Nurses for a comprehensive Nurse Residency Program designed to support your transition from nursing school to professional practice. This position is available across all units and shifts at our 175-bed state-of-the-art facility in Suffolk, Virginia.
Sentara Obici Hospital is a recognized Magnet hospital for nursing excellence and accredited Primary Stroke Center. The hospital specializes in orthopedic and spine care, heart and vascular services, advanced imaging, gynecological and comprehensive breast services, behavioral health, maternity, weight loss surgery, and heartburn treatment.
Nurse Residency Program
All newly hired graduate nurses are automatically enrolled in this structured residency program, which begins after your orientation period. The program includes:
- Six months of hands-on clinical experience alongside trained preceptors
- Rotation through six clinical areas: Medical-Surgical, Intermediate Care, Critical Care, Emergency, Operating Room, and Women's Health
- Topics covering career pathing, professional development, leadership, self-care, and stress management
- No separate application or application deadlines required
- Available at all 12 Sentara hospitals

Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited RN program
- Current Virginia RN license or eligibility to obtain one
- Graduating soon or graduated with less than one year of RN practice experience
Compensation
- Competitive starting salaries
- Sign-on bonus for all new-to-practice RNs
- Base pay range: $36.00 - $36.00 hourly for full-time employment
- Additional compensation may be available, including shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities
- Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs
