Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina is hiring newly graduated Registered Nurses for a comprehensive Nurse Residency Program designed to support your transition from nursing school to professional practice.
This fast-track application is open to all newly hired graduate nurses across all units and shifts at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center. You will begin your residency immediately after completing orientation.
Nurse Residency Program
The residency program provides six months of hands-on clinical experience with trained preceptors. You will rotate through six clinical areas to build foundational competency:
- Medical-Surgical
- Intermediate Care
- Critical Care
- Emergency
- Operating Room
- Women's Health
In addition to clinical rotations, the program includes structured education on career pathing, professional development, leadership, self-care, and stress management.
Program Features
- No separate application or application deadlines; automatic enrollment for all newly hired graduate nurses

Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited RN program
- Current Virginia RN license or eligibility to obtain one
- Graduating soon or graduated with less than one year of RN practice experience
Schedule and Shifts
Multiple shifts are available.
Compensation
- Competitive starting salary: $36.00 per hour
- Sign-on bonus for all new-to-practice RNs
- Additional compensation may be available, including shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities
- Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs
