Job Description

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina is hiring newly graduated Registered Nurses for a comprehensive Nurse Residency Program designed to support your transition from nursing school to professional practice.

This posting supports all new graduate RN positions across all available units and shifts at the facility. The Nurse Residency Program is automatically available to all newly hired graduate nurses with less than 12 months of RN experience.

Program Overview

The residency provides six months of hands-on clinical experience with trained preceptors across six clinical areas: Medical-Surgical, Intermediate Care, Critical Care, Emergency, Operating Room, and Women's Health. In addition to clinical training, the program includes education on career pathing, professional development, leadership, self-care, and stress management.

Key program features include automatic enrollment with no separate application or application deadlines, availability at all 12 Sentara hospitals, and residency begins immediately after your orientation period.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program
  • Current Virginia RN license or eligibility to obtain one
  • Graduating soon or graduated with less than one year of RN practice experience

Schedule

Multiple shifts are available.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay for full-time employment is $36.00 per hour. Additional compensation may be available including shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. All new-to-practice RNs receive a sign-on bonus.
