Intermountain Health is seeking Registered Nurse graduates for a full-time position in the Emergency Department at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. This role is designed for newly licensed or soon-to-be-licensed RNs who will work under the direct supervision of an experienced Registered Nurse while completing the Intermountain Nurse Residency program.
This position is available for up to 12 weeks while you are enrolled in and actively progressing through the Nurse Residency program and preparing to pass the State Board examination for RN licensure. Upon successful completion of the residency program and passing the State Boards, you may transition to a licensed RN position or apply for other available roles. If you do not pass the State Board exam on your second attempt, you will no longer be eligible to remain in this Nursing Graduate role.
You must be enrolled and have started coursework in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program before beginning direct patient care in this position.
Responsibilities
- Collect patient data such as vital signs under direct RN supervision and report significant changes in patient condition
- Complete accurate documentation under direct RN supervision
- Observe and discuss with the RN the prioritization of patient needs and the development of individualized care plans
- Observe the implementation of patient care plans, considering physical, emotional, social, and developmental needs
- Report patient responses to treatments and collaborate with the RN regarding necessary modifications to nursing interventions
- Participate in patient and family education under RN supervision as appropriate
- Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for patient care delivery within your defined role under direct RN supervision
- Practice within legal and ethical standards, comply with regulatory requirements, maintain accurate documentation, and protect patient confidentiality
- Achieve RN licensure in a timely manner and successfully complete the Nurse Residency program
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing (RN) education program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers
- Enrollment in and active participation in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program
Schedule and Employment
- Full-time position, 36 hours per week
- Variable shifts with on-call requirement of 3 shifts per 8 weeks

Compensation
- Entry pay for New Grad RN (Unlicensed): $32.27 per hour
- Entry pay for Registered Nurse (Licensed): $35.22 per hour
Physical Requirements
- Ability to see and read information, labels, and patient monitors; identify equipment and supplies
- Frequent verbal communication with patients, families, and care providers; ability to hear and understand spoken information, alarms, and urgent needs quickly and accurately
- Manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer use for documentation and medication preparation
- Ability to lift and use full range of motion to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights
- Ability to walk and assist with transporting and ambulating patients; push and pull gurneys and portable equipment
- Ability to stand in a stationary position for extended periods
- Ability to navigate crowded and busy rooms with equipment and obstacles
