Join Northwestern Medicine's neurosciences team as a Registered Nurse on our 24-bed intermediate care unit. You will provide direct nursing care to patients requiring medical and surgical treatment of acute neurological and spine disorders, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, spinal injury, seizure, and CNS infections. You will also care for post-operative neurosurgical patients following procedures such as aneurysm repair and spinal surgery. Our unit is in the country's top decile for patient satisfaction.
Schedule
- Full-time days, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Rotating weekends required
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for acutely ill patients using the nursing process
- Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care
- Interact effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members
- Maintain ANA standards of professional nursing practice
- Adhere to Northwestern Medicine's mission, vision, values, Code of Ethics, and Corporate Compliance Program
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of employment
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with others
- Strong analytic abilities
