Job Description

Join Ben Taub Hospital's Emergency Center as a Registered Nurse (Nurse Clinician II) in a full-time day shift position. Ben Taub is a Level 1 Trauma Center and part of Harris Health, the public healthcare safety-net provider serving Harris County, Texas. You will provide direct patient care in a fast-paced emergency setting, managing patients with acute and complex conditions while working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.

As a Nurse Clinician II, you will independently and safely manage patients with problems common to the emergency department, apply professional nursing standards and clinical algorithms to patient situations, and recognize when additional resources or assistance are needed. You will demonstrate competent generalist nursing practice consistent with the Texas Nursing Practice Act and Harris Health Nursing Service standards.

Ben Taub Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center and anchor facility within Harris Health's network of 39 clinics, health centers, and specialty locations. The hospital serves a diverse patient population including low-income, uninsured, and underinsured residents of Harris County. Harris Health holds Magnet nursing excellence designation and maintains strong partnerships with Baylor College of Medicine, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse license, active and in good standing in the State of Texas
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • One year of full-time RN experience or completion of a Graduate Nurse (GN) Program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross approved program
  • Other certificates as required by the unit or service

  • Bilingual skills

  • Above average verbal communication skills with heavy public contact
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills, including public speaking ability
  • Writing and composing skills for correspondence and reports
  • Knowledge of mathematics and medical terminology
  • Personal computer proficiency

  • Full-time day shift position
  • Schedule includes weekends, holidays, and flexible hours
  • On-call duties as required

Compensation

  • Pay range: $41.82 - $52.55 per hour
