Registered Nurse - MSIII/FT/Days

This full-time Registered Nurse position is based in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit, providing direct patient care and coordinating care to achieve desired outcomes. You will work 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week with weekend availability required. The role involves patient and family education, collaboration with interdisciplinary team members, and leadership in maintaining professional nursing standards.

Responsibilities

• Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs
• Monitor patients' vital signs and EKG output, reporting adverse reactions to medication in a timely manner
• Accurately obtain and record assessment results, care delivery, medication administration, treatments, and patient responses in the electronic medical record
• Adjust specialized medical equipment as needed and interpret and record measurements
• Answer questions and educate patients and families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care
• Maintain and update patient files, medical charts, and health records
• Collect current symptoms and detailed patient history; consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
• Organize and plan patient care with ability to assess treatment rationale and delivery, follow protocols, administer medications with accuracy and knowledge
• Prepare and administer medications using the rights established by the State Board of Nursing and facility policies and procedures
• Perform daily checks and cleaning of equipment including monitors, code equipment, crash carts, and oxygen cylinders
• Triage patients appropriately using the ESI (Emergency Severity Index) system
• Use SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) when communicating with oncoming shift, physicians, and other nursing services
• Utilize the Nursing Process ADPIE (Assessment, Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation) to secure individualized and methodical patient care
• Use AIDET principles (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) in all patient and family interactions
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referrals, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs
• Provide discharge instructions, follow-up care, and education to patients and family members
• Speak up to stop the line and escalate potential safety events if necessary
• Act quickly and with a sense of urgency and prioritization in delivery of patient care
• Stabilize patients by coordinating with medical staff providers, EMS, coworkers, patients, and family members in a professional, calm manner
• Stock assigned rooms and keep work areas clean
• Arrive to work prepared to receive patient report on time
• May float to other areas of the hospital as assigned
• Attend and complete monthly, annual, and assigned training
• Abide by HIPAA regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

• Full-time position
• 3 shifts per week
• 12-hour shifts with paid overtime after 8 hours
• Weekend availability required
• Available to participate in on-call rotations and respond to department needs as required

Compensation

• Base rate: $41.73 to $61.35 per hour
• Average rate with overtime: $48.69 to $71.57 per hour
• Sign-on/Retention Bonus: $10,000 (full-time only)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN (Registered Nurse) license
• AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
• One year of experience preferred in the area applied for
• Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to follow verbal instructions
• PC (computer) skills
• Adaptable to changing work schedules and patient needs
• Capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, work independently, place patients and families first, and collaborate with team members

Preferred Qualifications
