Registered Nurse, MICU A, 36 Hours (Nights / Rotating Weekends)

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for MICU A, a 17-bed medical intensive care unit. You will deliver nursing care to the most acute medical patients, including those with multisystem failure, renal failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and sepsis. This is a full-time position working 36 hours per week on nights with rotating weekends.

Clinical Setting

MICU A is one of two medical intensive care units at Boston Medical Center, the largest trauma hospital and largest safety net hospital in New England. The unit specializes in caring for critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and intervention.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, plan, intervene, evaluate, and educate patients using a patient-centered care model
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and their families
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to interprofessional colleagues
• Update and manage patient records
• Enter and interpret computerized data and information
• Follow guidelines and policies established by Boston Medical Center's nursing organization
• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

Required Qualifications

• Active or pending Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license, or ability to obtain one
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required for certain units
• Nursing degree: Diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred)
• Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
• Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty certification required for certain practice areas
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
• Basic computer proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of RN experience
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Fluency in another language

Schedule

• 36 hours per week
• Night shift
• Rotating weekends
