Registered Nurse - Med/Surg System Float Team

Children's Minnesota is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Med/Surg System Float Team to provide family-centered nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents. This position is part of an integral float team within the medical/surgical community that applies specialized skill sets across four departments, providing flexibility to work in different units while developing new clinical skills. The float team supports the hospital system with knowledgeable, resourceful, and flexible care delivery.

Clinical Setting

This position will be scheduled across the Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses. You will work within the medical/surgical community, rotating among four departments to provide additional resources as needs are identified. The team incorporates the Comfort Promise into care, minimizing procedural pain whenever possible, and maintains a family-centered focus that considers social, economic, and cultural diversity.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide family-centered nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents using the nursing process
• Perform independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions in collaboration with the health team
• Apply specific clinical skill sets across multiple departments
• Support various units with flexible resource allocation
• Contribute to a team environment that values teamwork, open communication, safety, and respect

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current Minnesota RN licensure
• Current BLS certification
• One year of experience within the last two years working with a specialized patient population (such as Neurosciences or inpatient psychiatry). Pediatric experience is preferred.
• An informational meeting with the Patient Care Manager is required prior to awarding the position.
• Department-specific required certifications must be obtained within six months of employment, based on the unit assignment.

This is an MNA contract position.

Compensation and Benefits

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries are based on full-time employment (40 standard hours per week). Part-time salaries will be prorated based on scheduled weekly hours. Individual pay rates consider market indicators, candidate skills, education, training, credentials, experience, internal equity, and organizational needs.

This position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions requiring night, weekend, or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
