REGISTERED NURSE - MEDICINE UNIT FLOOR 2

North Oaks Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medicine Unit, Floor 2. In this full-time role, you will provide direct patient care utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient needs. You will work as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, serving as a resource to colleagues and maintaining effective communication with physicians, hospital departments, patients, and families.

Clinical Setting

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality patient care by utilizing the nursing process for each patient on an individual basis
• Administer medications as ordered by physicians and document patient responses
• Monitor patients receiving IV conscious sedation according to policy
• Administer blood, blood components, hyperalimentation, and chemotherapy in accordance with hospital policy
• Assist with quality assurance audits
• Document patient care using vital sign records, nurses' notes, and other appropriate forms
• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures
• Report incidents, injuries, and medication errors
• Account for narcotics
• Maintain a clean patient environment
• Demonstrate knowledge of hospital safety codes and perform duties during drills and actual emergencies
• Report unsafe conditions and incidents
• Assist the department manager in maintaining policies and procedures
• Schedule personnel assignments as applicable
• Assist the department director in data collection
• Monitor equipment function
• Promote satisfactory relationships and share knowledge with colleagues
• Attend committee meetings and in-service programs as designated
• Maintain current certification in Basic Life Support and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support as required
• Maintain knowledge of computerized systems within the healthcare system
• Follow North Oaks Health System's Compliance Program and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines
• Adhere to the Nurse Practice Act and Rules and Regulations of the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
• Perform other duties as requested

Schedule

• Full-time position
• 6:45 am to 7:15 pm
• 3 shifts per week
• Every other weekend
• Rotating holidays
• Non-exempt

Physical Demands

• Required to stand for long periods of time
• Lifting and transporting of patients is required
• Motor coordination and manual dexterity are necessary
• Medium strength demands
• Occasional pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting
• Occasional sitting
• Frequent standing and walking

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current Louisiana RN license

Preferred Qualifications

• Membership in a professional organization
