The opportunity

Job Description

AdventHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Kissimmee, Florida. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in an acute care hospital setting, working three 12-hour shifts per week on a day schedule (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and compliance
  • Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Basic Life Support - CPR certification (BLS)
  • Associate's degree in Nursing
  • Fluency in English (read, verbal, and written skills)
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
  • Ability to work as a team player within a unit
  • Effective verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills with ability to navigate Microsoft Windows-based programs
  • Ability to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes
  • EKG competency (based on patient requirements)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • One or more years of acute care hospital setting experience
  • Acute/Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist (CCNS) certification

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours total)
  • Day shift: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM
  • Weekend and holiday requirements apply
