Join Northwestern Medicine as a Registered Nurse in the Medical ICU (MICU) on a part-time night shift basis. In this role, you will provide direct nursing care to acutely ill patients, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans. You will work collaboratively with physicians, ancillary staff, patients, and families to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze patient data, identify expected outcomes, and develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Coordinate care delivery and evaluate patient progress toward attainment of outcomes
  • Direct care and determine appropriate utilization of nursing assistants involved in direct patient care
  • Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff to create documented plans focused on outcomes and care delivery decisions
  • Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record and adjust the plan of care based on findings
  • Utilize best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions
  • Participate in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in clinical nurse role
  • Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • Strong analytic abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Medical ICU or other specific clinical area
  • Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS) certification
