Registered Nurse-Medical ICU Full-Time Nights

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical ICU (MICU) to work full-time nights. In this role, you will provide direct nursing care to acutely ill patients, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. You will work as an integral part of the healthcare team, collaborating with physicians, patients, families, and ancillary staff to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Medical ICU, caring for acutely ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and intervention.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze patient data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement individualized care plans, coordinate care delivery, and evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes
• Direct care and determine appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care
• Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff to create documented plans focused on outcomes and care delivery decisions
• Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record and individualize the plan of care based on evaluation findings
• Utilize best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions
• Participate in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects
• Maintain adherence to Northwestern Medicine's mission, vision, values, Code of Ethics, Corporate Compliance Program, and all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in clinical nurse role
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate with others
• Strong analytic abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in specific clinical area
• Additional experience in Emergency Room or Pediatric Emergency Room
• Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS) certification
• Emergency Communications Registered Nurse certification
• Certified Pediatric Nurse certification
• Certified Emergency Nurse certification
