Registered Nurse, Medical and Surgical Weight Loss Clinics

Vanderbilt Health's Center for Surgical Weight Loss is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in our medical and surgical weight loss clinics. In this role, you will apply the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. You will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to establish patient goals, evaluate progress, and ensure effective outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in establishing the plan of care, coordinate and implement care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum
• Analyze comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnoses
• Utilize the nursing process to evaluate patient progress toward goals and apply appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes
• Employ strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment
• Effectively communicate pertinent patient and family information to the healthcare team
• Engage in learning activities according to Board of Nursing standards to further professional growth

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license
• One year of relevant nursing work experience
• Graduate of an approved discipline-specific nursing program

Required Technical Capabilities

• Care Planning (Novice level): Ability to anticipate resource needs, identify distinct tasks, set priorities, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work. Competently handle multiple assignments simultaneously by prioritizing work into manageable units. Adapt to changes in patient care and area needs with minimal disruption. Follow up to ensure problems and issues are resolved.
• Nursing Patient Education (Novice level): Fundamental proficiency in providing patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty
• Nursing Patient Assessment and Evaluation (Novice level): Ability to assess and evaluate patients in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Conduct primary care patient interviews and physical examinations. Recognize problems, ask questions, and contact the patient's primary care provider and other healthcare team members. Gather pertinent clinical data that aid in referral, treatment, or other primary care pathways.
• Evidence-Based Practice (Novice level): Fundamental proficiency to search for evidence to answer clinical questions. Generally work under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
