Experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility
This position offers the opportunity to provide professional nursing care in an acute care and non-acute care facility. You will work the night shift on a 12-hour schedule as part of the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit, assisting physicians, implementing their orders, and delivering comprehensive patient care to patients and their families.
Clinical Setting
You will be assigned to work or float in appropriate areas within the facility, providing care in both acute care and non-acute care settings. The role includes participation in quality assurance activities, policy and procedure review and revision, in-service education, and staff development.
Responsibilities
- Perform the full range of nursing duties and responsibilities in acute care and non-acute care settings
- Plan and organize nursing care plans for patients
- Prepare and maintain concise and complete records and reports
- Apply principles and techniques to develop and implement treatment plans, including the use of restraints and/or seclusion when indicated
- Manage emergency or crisis situations requiring sound judgment and action
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients, fellow employees, and internal and external customers
- Secure cooperation of employees to work effectively together
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Maintain knowledge of developments in nursing specialization
- Provide age-specific competent care addressing the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients served
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing or successful completion of an accredited Registered Nurse Program from a recognized college or university
- Valid California Registered Nurse license
- BLS Certification from the American Heart Association
- Six months of experience within the past two years in a general acute care facility, or acquired appropriate equivalent competency
- Knowledge of hospital policies, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures, and the California Nursing Practice Act
- Knowledge of medical instruments, equipment, and terminology
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques for the use of restraints and/or seclusion
- Knowledge of the uses, effects, and appropriate documentation of medications and narcotics
- Knowledge of community resources available for patient care and follow-up
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing professional nursing practice
