Jefferson Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for Medical-Surgical nursing in a full-time, day shift position at our Cherry Hill, New Jersey location. This role focuses on providing patient- and family-centered care using the nursing process to address the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient ailments and injuries, implement individualized treatment plans, and develop nursing plans of care in partnership with patients and their designated care partners
- Provide patient and family education on conditions, treatments, medications, and recovery steps in ways that are useful, understandable, and culturally affirming
- Administer medications and manage prescriptions according to established protocols
- Coordinate discharge planning and arrange follow-up care based on post-discharge needs
- Use health information systems to document medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and results
- Interact professionally with co-workers, patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff while integrating evidence-based practice with patient preferences and cultural beliefs
- Minimize risk of harm by following established nursing practices and protocols
- Function effectively within nursing and interdisciplinary teams, fostering open communication and shared decision-making
- Participate in hospital and practice-based committees focused on safety and quality improvement
- Serve as a preceptor to appropriate staff members and demonstrate commitment to continued professional growth
- Provide feedback and integrate appropriate changes into practice
Clinical Setting
Medical-surgical nursing in an acute care hospital environment.
Physical Demands
- Lift and carry 40-50 pounds, including pushing/pulling patients on beds and stretchers (requires 29 pounds push force) and lateral transfers up to 50 pounds of patient weight
- Frequent to continuous standing and walking
- May be required to kneel, bend, squat, and perform CPR as specific to the role
Required Qualifications
- Specialized Diploma from an accredited school of nursing
- Active RN license in the state of practice (Pennsylvania or New Jersey)
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice and ability to collaborate with patients, families, and designated care partners
- Cultural awareness and ability to connect effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
- Effective communication skills and ability to delegate appropriately to team members
- Knowledge of patient assessment techniques and ability to implement treatment plans
- Knowledge of child and adult education techniques
- Knowledge of medications and ability to administer them safely
- Knowledge of discharge planning and ability to arrange follow-up care
- Knowledge of patient assessment tools, nursing diagnosis, and clinical judgment
- Knowledge of health information documentation and ability to maintain accurate medical records
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or completion of BSN or appropriate advanced degree within 3 years of hire
- One year of previous experience as an RN in an acute care setting

Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly rate: $39.54 to $56.34 (actual rate based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications)
- This position is not eligible for an annual incentive
