This position leads nursing operations for the Ambulatory Pre-Op/PACU and Operating Room on the day shift. As Nurse Manager, you will ensure excellent patient care is provided by a nursing staff of sufficient number and competency to meet patient needs. You will deliver quality customer service to patients of all ages, their families, visitors, medical staff, clinicians, and co-workers, ensuring everyone is treated courteously, quickly, and with respect.
Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day operations of the unit independently
- Establish and maintain an environmental control plan
- Coordinate materials management for the department
- Assist in monitoring clinic activities
- Provide leadership to all nursing unit employees
- Delegate supervisory responsibilities as appropriate
- Handle employee termination, grievances, and performance evaluations with guidance from the Director
- Review annual unit goals and budget with supervisor guidance
- Approve unit guidelines and procedures with supervisor guidance
- Maintain frequent visibility on all shifts and weekends to enhance staff communication and monitor staff effectiveness
- Seek advice and guidance from the Director on an as-needed basis and when there is major impact on activity outside the unit
Required Qualifications
- Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible to obtain
- AHA BLS Certification or equivalent
- 5 years of relevant clinical experience
- 2 years of progressive leadership and/or supervisory/management experience
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Must be enrolled in a master's degree program at the time of application and must complete within 36 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an academic medical center environment
- Master's degree in nursing or a related field
- Certification in specialty area
Education
Bachelor's degree in nursing is required. You must be enrolled in a master's degree program at the time of application and complete it within 36 months of hire. Special consideration will be given for applicants enrolled in baccalaureate to doctoral programs who will not attain a master's degree and may require longer than 36 months to complete the terminal degree. If the master's degree is not in nursing, a BSN from an accredited school is required. Applicants grandfathered under previous requirements may be exempt from these education requirements.

Compensation
Salary range: $92,290.00 - $152,277.00. Actual salary offers will be based on relevant work experience, credentials, and qualifications.
