CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - New Braunfels is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) unit. This 94-bed facility features a renovated birthing center with 24/7 neonatal coverage and serves a growing population in the heart of downtown New Braunfels. You will provide comprehensive perinatal nursing care in a setting equipped with innovative equipment and procedures.
Clinical Setting
The LDRP unit is part of a full-service hospital offering orthopedic and surgical services, rehabilitation, emergency care, wound care/hyperbaric center, 3D mammography, and comprehensive heart care from diagnostics to open-heart surgery.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
- Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with your level of practice
- Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and resources
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed to manage clinical situations
- Meet expectations of OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders
Required Qualifications
- RN license in state of employment or compact
- BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross accepted at time of hire)
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Current certification from one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate FHM, AWHONN Intermediate FHM Instructor, AWHONN Advanced FHM Instructor, AWHONN Instructor Trainer, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
- Current STABLE (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants) certification from one of the following courses: Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
- One year of experience in perinatal nursing specialty
- Perinatal RN Residency or recent practice in a perinatal setting
Onboarding and Competency Requirements
All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member. Initial on-boarding requirements are validated through successful completion of designated organizational entry competency validation and Perinatal Services-specific competency validation. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is required.
Credential Grace Periods
If you do not currently hold all required certifications, grace periods apply based on your experience level:
Experienced Associates (at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years):
- ACLS: within 30 days of hire
- NRP: within 30 days of hire
- AWHONN Intermediate FHM: within 30 days of hire
- STABLE: within 30 days of hire
New Graduates and Experienced Associates New to the Specialty (less than one year of full-time acute care clinical experience in the same service line within the past three years):
- ACLS: within 90 days of hire
- NRP: within 60 days of hire
- AWHONN Intermediate FHM: within 60 days of hire
- STABLE: within 60 days of hire

- 7 AM to 7 PM shifts
- Per diem as needed
