This position offers an opportunity to provide evidence-based obstetric nursing care in a labor and delivery setting. You will work the night shift (6:30 PM to 7:00 AM) on a 13-week contract basis, delivering comprehensive care to laboring patients with continuous fetal monitoring and supporting high-risk deliveries.
Clinical Setting
You will work on-site in All Cities, New Mexico, in a collaborative labor and delivery unit. This role requires in-person presence and adherence to on-site scheduling and contract terms.
Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based obstetric care to laboring patients with continuous fetal monitoring
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, respond to emergencies, and initiate appropriate interventions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and update labor and delivery care plans
- Document all care accurately in electronic medical records and ensure compliance
- Assist in high-risk deliveries and perform necessary obstetric procedures within scope
- Educate patients and families on labor processes, pain management, and postnatal care
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure infection control throughout labor and delivery
- Demonstrate professional growth by pursuing certifications and participating in ongoing competency training
- Provide on-site support and mentorship to junior nurses and support staff
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance labor and delivery outcomes
- Meet productivity targets and contribute to pipeline-based planning for patient load and staffing
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license with state obstetric nursing endorsement
- Minimum 2–3 years of RN experience in Labor & Delivery with fetal monitoring
- Proficiency in continuous fetal monitoring and interpretation of tracings
- Ability to perform obstetric procedures within scope and assist in high-risk deliveries
- Strong documentation in electronic medical records with accuracy and compliance
- Excellent infection control, sterile technique, and hand hygiene practices
- Ability to work on-site with adherence to scheduling, contracts, and productivity targets
Licenses and Certifications
- Current RN license with state obstetric nursing endorsement
- ACLS certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification or willingness to obtain promptly
- Ongoing competency training participation required
Schedule
- Night shift: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
- 36 hours per week
- 13-week contract position
Compensation
- $2,430 per 13 weeks
- Competitive base salary with reliable, straightforward compensation and regular pay
