Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery - Nights

St. Mary Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Labor & Delivery unit on a part-time basis. This position provides direct and indirect care to patients in a specialized obstetric setting with a focus on quality patient outcomes and evidence-based nursing practice.

Clinical Setting

The Labor & Delivery unit contains 8 labor beds, 2 triage rooms, 2 operating rooms, and 2 recovery rooms. The unit maintains a 1:1 to 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient learning needs, readiness to learn, and barriers to learning; incorporate patient education into daily activities based on age, cultural, and spiritual values
• Document admission assessments and reassessments, care plans, interventions, and medication use; monitor effects and outcomes according to policy
• Use the information management system to enhance communication and document changes in patient condition to appropriate individuals
• Prioritize work assignments based on changing clinical situations
• Communicate transfer of patient responsibility and pertinent information at the bedside and during interprofessional rounds
• Recognize and integrate patient special needs; individualize care and demonstrate knowledge in abuse recognition and referral
• Include pain management and supportive care issues in the plan of care
• Adhere to infection control standards specific to patient care and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

• Employment Type: Part Time
• Shift: Day Shift (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• 12-hour shifts

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Active Pennsylvania RN license
• AHA BLS certification

• Prior Labor & Delivery experience
