Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Inpatient Rehab Facility at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono. This full-time position provides professional nursing care to designated patients in a rehabilitation setting, delivering comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in accordance with facility policies and evidence-based practice standards.

Clinical Setting

You will work in an inpatient rehabilitation facility providing care to patients requiring specialized rehabilitation services. The role emphasizes collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for designated patients
  • Recognize the need for and initiate collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to proactively resolve patient needs
  • Synthesize available data and information to make clinical decisions that optimize patient outcomes based on ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality and safety through evidence-based practice and participation in research projects as applicable
  • Use effective verbal and non-verbal communication with patients, families, visitors, staff, and professional colleagues
  • Coordinate and provide patient and family education throughout the treatment course to facilitate effective transition of care
  • Function as a department team member to support unit and hospital goals and objectives
  • Participate in all phases of the performance improvement process, including organizational and unit-based patient experience goals
  • Perform validated technical skills based on clinical specialty and unit practice
  • Utilize technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery
  • Demonstrate leadership and team building skills including teaching and mentoring new colleagues and department interns, delegating based on team member skills and patient acuity, and providing input for performance appraisals of care delivery team members

Schedule

  • Full-time, day shift
  • 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Every other weekend and rotating holidays

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care
  • Successful completion of additional orientation programs related to specialty
  • Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies
  • Basic computer skills
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association, required upon hire
  • Active RN (Registered Nurse) license in Pennsylvania, required upon hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • One year of acute care experience or experience congruent with the role in the service line

Physical Demands

  • Lift and carry 40-50 lbs, including pushing and pulling patients on beds and stretchers (requires 29 lbs. push force) and lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight
  • Frequent to continuous standing and walking
  • May be required to perform kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR as specific to the role
