Join Vanderbilt Health's Level IV NICU as a Registered Nurse on the AJB stepdown unit, caring for premature and critically ill newborns in a lower acuity setting. This 119-bed NICU cares for over 1,400 patients annually and serves as a regional leader in neonatal critical care.
Clinical Setting
The AJB stepdown unit provides care for infants over 30 weeks corrected age with mixed acuity needs. You will work in a collaborative environment supporting babies in 3:1 ratios, with some 4:1 assignments supported by a care partner. Patients may require vapotherm, Bubble C-PAP up to 6 liters, nasal cannulas, PICC lines, ostomies, and other specialized equipment and interventions.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate in establishing the plan of care, coordinate and implement care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum
- Analyze comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnoses
- Utilize the nursing process to evaluate patient progress toward goals and apply appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes
- Assist with medical procedures, monitor vital signs and equipment, and support and educate families with compassion and understanding
- Employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment
- Communicate pertinent patient and family information effectively to the healthcare team
- Engage in learning activities according to Board of Nursing standards to further professional growth
Schedule
- Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license
- Graduate of an approved nursing program
- One year of relevant nursing experience
