We are seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for inpatient night shifts. This position focuses on post-operative and phase II level of care nursing in a fast-paced operating room environment. You will provide comprehensive patient assessment, develop and implement individualized care plans, and deliver skilled nursing care to support positive patient outcomes.

Clinical Setting

This role is based in an operating room environment with exposure to blood borne pathogens, chemical hazards, and radiation hazards. You will work the night shift on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing and systematic assessment and data collection, focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive status
  • Formulate goal-directed, prioritized care plans based on nursing diagnoses and patient outcomes
  • Implement care in a knowledgeable and skilled manner to achieve desired patient outcomes
  • Establish priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available resources
  • Perform efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, remaining calm and documenting events appropriately
  • Demonstrate applied knowledge in medical and surgical patient care, pain assessment, pharmaceutical and anesthetic agents, laboratory values, safety, legal issues, and emergency equipment
  • Identify and resolve problems using sound decision-making skills
  • Perform timely, accurate, and concise documentation in patient records
  • Work collaboratively as part of the care team
  • Maintain current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Attend all mandatory in-services and participate in staff meetings
  • Remain flexible and adaptive to new ideas and approaches
  • Treat all patients equally in accordance with hospital Patient Rights policy
  • Review and carry out physician orders in a professional manner
  • Assist with other duties as requested

Required Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Current Texas RN license
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification or successful completion within 60 days of hire date
  • Two years of nursing experience
  • Organizational skills to function in a fast-paced operating room environment
  • Experience in phase II level of care
  • Completion of de-escalation training within 30 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • CMSRN certification

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to sit, converse, and listen
  • Use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Close vision and ability to adjust focus
  • Lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis
  • Push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis
  • Stand and/or walk at least five hours per day
