This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Intermediate Care (IMC) unit, W600. You will provide routine and complex nursing care to assigned patients, working independently while demonstrating awareness of all relevant clinical aspects. You will manage long-range care goals, handle contingencies, and make appropriate assignments and delegations to other care providers as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
  • Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with your level of practice
  • Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
  • Assess patient and family learning needs and provide education; identify issues and resources
  • Meet expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license in state of employment or compact
  • BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross) required at time of hire
  • ACLS certification required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
  • One year of experience in a related nursing specialty

Onboarding and Competency Requirements

  • All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire
  • New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member
  • Initial on-boarding requirements are validated through successful completion of designated organizational entry competency validation and a MedSurg-specific competency validation
  • All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation
  • Skills and competency completion will be achieved with the preceptor at the bedside and documented through the program's tracking software
  • Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is required

Credential Grace Periods

If you are an Experienced Associate (at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years), credential grace periods are:

  • ACLS: within 30 days of hire
  • PALS: within 30 days of hire
  • TNCC: within 60 days of hire
  • TCAR: within 60 days of hire
  • NRP: within 30 days of hire
  • AWHONN INTERMEDIATE FHM: within 30 days of hire
  • STABLE: within 30 days of hire

If you are a New Graduate or Experienced Associate New to the Specialty (less than one year of full-time acute care clinical experience in the same service line within the past three years), credential grace periods are:

  • ACLS: within 90 days of hire
  • PALS: within 90 days of hire
  • TNCC: within 18 months of hire
  • TCAR: within 18 months of hire
  • NRP: within 60 days of hire
  • AWHONN INTERMEDIATE FHM: within 60 days of hire
  • STABLE: within 60 days of hire
