Registered Nurse III - Full-Time - Evening Shift

Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, a Level 3 Trauma Center in Houston, is seeking a Registered Nurse III (Nurse Clinician III - Competent Specialist) for the Express Admission Unit. This full-time evening position offers the opportunity to provide clinical leadership and independent patient care in a safety-net healthcare system serving Harris County's uninsured and underinsured populations.

As a Nurse Clinician III, you will independently and safely manage patients with problems common to the Express Admission Unit while recognizing when to seek appropriate resources. You will apply professional nursing standards, principles, and algorithms to clinical situations and demonstrate clinical leadership in your practice environment.

Clinical Setting

Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital is part of Harris Health, the public healthcare safety-net provider for Harris County. The hospital operates as a Level 3 Trauma Center and is part of a robust network including 39 clinics, health centers, specialty locations, and virtual telemedicine services. Harris Health holds Magnet nursing excellence designation and maintains strong partnerships with Baylor College of Medicine, UTHealth McGovern Medical School, and UT MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Required Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Active Texas RN license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross approved program
• Three years of RN experience
• One year of clinical leadership experience meeting at least two of the following criteria: preceptor, charge nurse, professional nursing certification, mentor, Community of Practice (CoP) chair, or Quality Improvement (QI) Champion
• Designated professional nursing certification for specialty
• Annual Performance Review/Resume/CV/Portfolio reflecting leadership in professional practice environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Bilingual skills (any language)

Licenses and Certifications

• Active Texas RN license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Designated professional nursing certification for specialty
• Other certificates as required by unit/service

Communication and Skills Requirements

• Above-average verbal communication skills with heavy public contact
• Ability to accurately interpret and transmit clinical information in English, both verbally and in written form
• Ability to send and receive messages that patients, families, and significant others can comprehend
• Proficiency with medical terminology, mathematics, and personal computers

Compensation

• $47.37 - $57.80 per hour
