Baystate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse III to provide direct patient care within our Professional Practice Model. Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager or Assistant Nurse Manager, you will practice according to the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice, and Code of Ethics while demonstrating Baystate Health's core values.

You will assume responsibility for patients' plans of care and be held accountable for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to deliver care that considers physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety, and age-appropriate factors.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate organizational skills that maintain safe delivery of standard care for assigned patients and families; manage your assignment by delegating and collaborating effectively based on patient needs and team member skills
  • Administer medications and treatments according to policy and procedure
  • Conduct accurate, age-appropriate clinical assessments; identify and prioritize patient and family strengths, needs, and priorities
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient plans of care; document all assessments according to policy
  • Recognize acute changes in patient status and intervene appropriately
  • Develop comprehensive educational plans for patients and families using appropriate resources and document accordingly
  • Utilize standards, policies, and procedures to support clinical decision-making; seek guidance from appropriate resources
  • Demonstrate knowledge of performance improvement initiatives
  • Create a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff that promotes comfort and healing and prevents unnecessary suffering
  • Demonstrate respect for patient and family dignity and privacy in all interactions; establish and maintain mutual trust within the nurse-patient and family relationship
  • Engage patient and family participation in care
  • Address patient experience concerns promptly and objectively; escalate to leadership as needed
  • Recognize ethical dilemmas within your practice area and use available resources to intervene effectively
  • Develop comprehensive discharge plans utilizing appropriate resources and community referrals; communicate plans and collaborate with patients and families
  • Actively participate in interdisciplinary patient care rounds; document plans and communicate to patients
  • Participate in unit and house-wide performance improvement initiatives
  • Successfully complete annual competencies and mandatory education requirements
  • Participate in shared governance and unit decision-making
  • Demonstrate progress in meeting personal and professional goals
  • Respect diverse views and approaches; contribute to maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility, and acceptance toward all employees, patients, and visitors

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 months of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse (exceptions require CNO approval)
  • Diploma in Nursing
  • Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license
  • Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association
  • Completion of Baystate Health required competencies per department

Compensation

Hourly pay range: $41.82 to $66.30 (midpoint $54.06). New hires typically start in the lower part of the range. Actual salary varies by position and candidate experience.
