The Registered Nurse II in the Perioperative Float Team provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level. Working under general supervision, you will utilize the principles and practices of the nursing process to deliver safe and effective care while interacting with other members of the healthcare team to achieve desired outcomes.
This is a PRN (as-needed) position with 12 scheduled weekly hours, though you may be called upon to work overtime as required. You will work rotating shifts and may be assigned to various perioperative settings as part of the float pool.
Required Qualifications
- Active licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
- Minimum one year of work experience as a registered nurse
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent, or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
Education
- Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred
- If hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing, you are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of hire or reclassification date

- Exerting up to 50 lbs of force frequently (for example, transferring patients who cannot assist requires 50 lbs of force; additional assistance is required for heavier patients)
- Maintaining 20/40 vision corrected in one or both eyes, recognizing objects at various distances, matching or discriminating colors, and determining distance and depth perception
- Maintaining hearing acuity with correction
- Dealing effectively with stressful situations continuously
- Working in a latex-safe environment continuously
- Maintaining tactile sensory functions continuously
- For selected positions: maintaining good olfactory sensory function and being physically qualified for respirator use initially and as required

This is an employee position with PRN (as-needed) worker status. The position is located in the Perioperative Float Pool (Cost Center CC004192 CHS) and reports to the Nurse Manager. Compensation is hourly at Health-28 pay grade.
