Join a high-functioning 12-bed Intensive Care Unit as a Registered Nurse specializing in critical care and cardiac interventions. This role offers the opportunity to provide expert care in a fast-paced environment with a strong emphasis on cardiac cases and complex medical conditions. You will work with a supportive multidisciplinary team including 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and House Supervisor support, maintaining 1:2 patient ratios that allow for comprehensive, individualized care.
Clinical Setting
This 12-bed ICU serves a diverse patient population requiring intensive monitoring and intervention. The unit specializes in cardiac care, including post-intervention recovery, and manages complex critical conditions across multiple organ systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse patient load including STEMIs, ARDS, Sepsis, Renal Failure, and DKA
- Provide expert care for post-cardiac intervention patients, including Left Heart Caths, Coronary Interventions, IVUS, and IFR/FFR procedures
- Assist with and manage care for patients requiring Temporary Pacemaker Insertion, IABP, and A-lines
- Monitor and adjust care for ventilated patients and those under sedation protocols, including ETOH and overdose management
- Titrate critical care drips including Levophed, Propofol, Precedex, Insulin, and weight-based Heparin
- Partner with on-unit Respiratory Therapists, Patient Care Technicians, and Health Unit Secretaries to ensure seamless patient throughput
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of professional ICU experience
- Current Registered Nurse License
- ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- NIHSS Certification
- Proficiency with basic ICU equipment and hemodynamic monitoring
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
- Ability to float to ED or Medical-Surgical units as needed based on experience
- Familiarity with hypothermia protocols and CVA post-tPA care
Schedule
- Full-Time, Direct Hire position
- 12-Hour Nights (1800–0630)
- Modified self-scheduling with block scheduling options
- Minimum 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period
