This position offers the opportunity to provide specialized nursing care in a cardiovascular intensive care unit. As a Registered Nurse in the ICU Cardiovascular setting, you will deliver routine and complex patient care while managing contingencies and developing long-range care plans. You will work independently while demonstrating awareness of all relevant clinical aspects and making appropriate assignments and delegations to support optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
- Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with your level of practice
- Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assess patient and family learning needs and provide education; identify issues and resources
- Meet expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in state of employment or compact
- BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross) required at time of hire
- ACLS certification required
Education
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
Experience
- One year of experience in a critical care setting preferred, but new graduates are accepted
- One year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred
Onboarding and Competency Requirements
- All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire
- New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member
- Initial on-boarding requirements are validated through successful completion of designated organizational entry competency validation and Critical Care Department-specific competency validation
- Completion of all annual competency verification requirements
Certification Grace Periods
The following grace periods apply for obtaining additional required certifications:
For Experienced Associates (at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years):
- ACLS: Within 30 days of hire
- PALS: Within 30 days of hire
- TNCC: Within 60 days of hire
- TCAR: Within 60 days of hire
- NRP: Within 30 days of hire
- AWHONN INTERMEDIATE FHM: Within 30 days of hire
- STABLE: Within 30 days of hire
For New Graduates and Experienced Associates New to the Specialty:
- ACLS: Within 90 days of hire
- PALS: Within 90 days of hire
- TNCC: Within 18 months of hire
- TCAR: Within 18 months of hire
- NRP: Within 60 days of hire
- AWHONN INTERMEDIATE FHM: Within 60 days of hire
- STABLE: Within 60 days of hire

- Full-time position
- 7 AM - 7 PM shifts
