Join the Medical University Hospital Authority as a Registered Nurse I on 9 West, a 23-bed inpatient Neurology/Neurosurgery/Epilepsy Monitoring Unit for adult and geriatric patients. This position is designed for new graduates entering professional nursing practice. You will provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles and practices of the nursing process, working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to achieve desired patient outcomes.
Clinical Setting
9 West is located in the West wing on the ninth floor of the main hospital. All patient rooms are private, with one room designated as a reverse air flow room. Nine rooms are hard-wired to accommodate continuous epilepsy monitoring, a program unique to 9 West. The unit also manages stroke patients and general neurology/neurosurgery patients.
Schedule
- 36 hours per week
- 3 twelve-hour rotating or straight night shifts per week
- Includes some weekends
Required Qualifications
- Active licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
Education
- Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred unless you are a current MUSC employee
- If hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing, you are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of hire or reclassification date
