REGISTERED NURSE - HIRING INCENTIVE!

The Arizona Department of Veterans' Services is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Arizona State Veterans' Home in Flagstaff. This position offers a $5,000 hiring incentive and provides direct nursing care to veterans in a long-term care setting.

Clinical Setting

You will work at the Arizona State Veterans' Home located at 2100 North Gemini Drive, Flagstaff, Arizona 86001. This facility serves veterans requiring skilled nursing and long-term care services.

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Night shift: 12-hour shifts from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
• Every other weekend off

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and perform treatments on an assigned unit as ordered by the physician and within scope of license
• Receive and deliver information regarding residents' medical, social, functional, and other needs
• Communicate with residents, families, and staff to ensure appropriate interdisciplinary care
• Perform initial admission nursing assessments for newly admitted residents
• Assist with development of Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, quarterly reviews, and care plans
• Maintain appropriate clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnosis, assessments, treatment, and client progress
• Lead and provide limited supervision of subordinate staff
• Assist with direct resident care for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, personal hygiene, and mobility
• Conduct and participate in in-service training and staff development programs
• Utilize Arizona Management System (AMS) concepts and tools for problem solving and continuous process improvements

Required Qualifications

• Active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona
• Current negative TB skin test (Mantoux) within the last twelve months, or written statement from a physician, physician's assistant, or Registered Nurse Practitioner indicating freedom from tuberculosis if previously positive
• Ability to obtain and retain a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety
• Current CPR card obtained by physical assessment
• Valid driver's license (may be required to drive on state duty)

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of skilled nursing facility or long-term care experience

Knowledge and Skills

• Gerontological and geriatric nursing theory and practices
• Understanding of residents' conditions and changing medical, physical, and psychological care needs
• Knowledge of the aging process
• Team nursing practices and procedures
• Pharmacology and medication practices and procedures
• Federal, state, and agency laws, rules, and regulations governing professional nursing practices and medication control
• Ability to observe and assess patient behavior and progress
• Ability to apply and interpret state and agency laws and regulations governing geriatric nursing practices
• Effective oral and written communication
• Ability to build interpersonal relationships
• Ability to learn, implement, and monitor AMS methods and use AMS concepts for problem solving and continuous improvement

Compensation

• Up to $37.5723 hourly (based on experience)
• Grade: N1
• $5,000 hiring incentive
