The opportunity

Job Description

Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pediatric Float Pool to work nights at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide specialty nursing services across multiple pediatric units, including acute care, critical care, emergency, and neonatal ICU. As a float pool nurse, you will work with diverse patient populations and gain exposure to various clinical areas while supporting the hospital's pediatric medicine, surgical services, cardiology, oncology/hematology, emergency, neonatal intensive care, and pediatric intensive care units.

Clinical Setting

Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital is part of Vanderbilt Health, the region's largest comprehensive academic health system with eight hospitals and over 180 clinics. The pediatric float pool provides specialty services throughout the children's hospital, creating pathways for nurses to develop well-rounded clinical expertise across multiple pediatric specialties.

Responsibilities

  • Apply the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning
  • Collaborate in establishing the plan of care, coordinate and implement care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum
  • Analyze comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnoses
  • Continually utilize the nursing process to evaluate patient progress toward goals and apply appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes
  • Employ strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment
  • Effectively communicate pertinent patient and family information to the healthcare team
  • Collaborate in establishing patient goals and evaluate progress to ensure effective outcomes
  • Further professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to Board of Nursing standards

Schedule

  • Full-time nights: 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse license
  • Graduate of an approved nursing program
  • Minimum one year of nursing experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of RN experience

Relocation

Relocation assistance of up to $10,000 (taxable) is available within 45 days of hire for candidates relocating from more than 100 miles away. This relocation bonus is not applicable to current Vanderbilt University Medical Center staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC within the past one year.
