Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Registered Nurse for Float Nursing at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono. This full-time position provides professional nursing care across multiple units, requiring flexibility and strong clinical skills to adapt to varying patient populations and care settings.

As a Float Nurse, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for designated patients while collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to proactively resolve patient needs. You will synthesize clinical data and information to make decisions that optimize patient outcomes in accordance with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while recognizing the need for and initiating collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary team members
  • Synthesize available data, information, and knowledge to make clinical decisions that optimize patient outcomes
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality and safety through evidence-based practice and participation in quality improvement and research projects
  • Use effective verbal and non-verbal communication with patients, families, visitors, staff, and professional colleagues
  • Coordinate and provide patient and family education throughout the treatment course to facilitate effective care transitions
  • Function as a department team member to support unit and hospital goals and objectives, participating in all phases of performance improvement and patient experience initiatives
  • Perform validated technical skills based on clinical specialty and unit practice
  • Utilize technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery
  • Demonstrate leadership and team building skills including teaching and mentoring new colleagues, delegating based on team member skills and patient acuity, and providing input for performance appraisals

Schedule

  • Full-time, Day Shift (0700-1930)
  • Weekend rotation and holiday coverage required

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in patient care delivery
  • Successful completion of additional orientation programs related to specialty
  • Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies
  • Basic computer skills
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA - American Heart Association) upon hire
  • RN - Licensed Registered Nurse (State of Pennsylvania) upon hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • One year of acute care experience or experience congruent with the role in the service line

Physical Demands

  • Lift and carry 40-50 lbs, including pushing/pulling patients on beds or stretchers (requires 29 lbs. push force) and lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight
  • Frequent to continuous standing and walking
  • May be required to perform kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR as specific to the role
