Clinton Regional Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse - Flex for night shift work. This position applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families across a variety of areas within the health system. You will collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to meet patient needs, delegate aspects of care within the scope of nursing practice, and work with flexibility across multiple clinical settings.
Clinical Setting
This is an internal travel contract position requiring flexibility and a broad range of nursing knowledge to work in various areas across the system.
Schedule
- Night shift
- 36 hours weekly
- Every 3rd weekend required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience
- Minimum 1 year of ICU experience
- Active Registered Nurse license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Knowledge and skills derived from principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex healthcare needs across various life stages
Responsibilities
- Perform initial and ongoing assessment of patients and families; complete initial assessment tools and document ongoing assessments per unit and organizational guidelines
- Communicate assessment findings to other healthcare providers as appropriate and include health counseling and teaching needs in assessment
- Plan care for patients and families based on assessment, standards of care, and optimal specific outcomes; initiate and individualize appropriate patient care guidelines, clinical pathways, or plans of care
- Evaluate the plan of care for patients based on optimal specific outcomes; document patient and family response to care including teaching
- Collaborate with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, to revise the plan of care as needed
- Implement the plan of care for patients; provide a safe and therapeutic environment while maintaining patient autonomy, dignity, and rights
- Determine the plan of care based on ethical principles; act as a patient advocate and deliver care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner sensitive to patient diversity
- Perform technical skills according to policy, procedure, and accepted standards; safely administer medications and treatments and monitor their effects
- Use all equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
- Prioritize workload according to patient needs, requests, and unit/facility needs
- Recognize emergent situations, notify appropriate personnel, and begin emergency measures
- Supervise care delegated to other healthcare team members
- Demonstrate organizational responsibilities and identify areas for self-improvement through self-assessment and peer review
- Function in leadership roles on the unit as needed and requested
- Cooperate with instructors to facilitate learning experiences for students
- Demonstrate knowledge and support of organizational and unit changes
- Support organizational activities by participating in committees, staff meetings, and councils
- Utilize chain of command appropriately
- Build collegial relationships with physicians and other healthcare team members
- Demonstrate autonomy in identifying opportunities for process improvement
- Maintain and improve current knowledge in area of practice through continuing education, formal education, professional organization membership, and/or certification
- Share knowledge and skills with colleagues
- Provide peers with constructive feedback regarding their practice
- Develop both short and long-term goals with patients, families, and the healthcare team, including discharge planning
