Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the FEL Recovery ambulatory plastic surgery clinic. In this role, you will apply the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. You will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to establish patient goals, evaluate progress toward those goals, and ensure effective outcomes.
Clinical Setting
This position is located within FEL Recovery, part of Vanderbilt Health's comprehensive academic health system, which operates eight hospitals and over 180 clinics throughout the Mid-South region.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate in establishing the plan of care, coordinate and implement care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum
- Analyze comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis
- Continually utilize the nursing process to evaluate patient progress toward goals and apply appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes
- Employ strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment
- Effectively communicate pertinent patient and family information to the healthcare team
- Provide patient and family education
- Engage in learning activities according to Board of Nursing standards to further professional growth
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license
- Graduate of an approved discipline-specific nursing program
- Minimum one year of relevant nursing work experience
Technical Competencies
This position requires novice-level proficiency in the following areas:
- Nursing Patient Assessment and Evaluation: Ability to conduct primary care patient interviews and physical examinations, recognize problems, ask questions, contact the patient's primary care provider and other healthcare team members, and gather pertinent clinical data
- Nursing Patient Education: Ability to provide patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty
- Care Planning: Ability to anticipate resource needs, identify distinct tasks, set priorities, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work within areas of direct responsibility; competently handle multiple assignments by prioritizing work into manageable units; adapt to changes with minimal disruption
- Evidence-Based Practice: Ability to search for evidence to answer clinical questions and work under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments
